India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) revolutionized commerce across the country. Small retailers, kirana store owners, garment shops, and electronic dealers welcomed QR code payments with open arms.
However, recent NPCI regulations introduced an interchange Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) of up to 1.1% on transactions exceeding ₹2,000 initiated through Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs) and wallets. For retailers operating with profit margins of just 5% to 10%, losing ₹20 to ₹100 on every large bill quickly adds up to thousands of rupees lost every single month.
We created QuickSplit as a free, lightweight, client-side POS utility that solves this issue cleanly. By decomposing large bills into compliant chunks of ₹2,000 or less, transactions remain 100% exempt from MDR deductions.
